When Should You Rewind in Berry Bury Berry?

What to finish before a Rewind, what carries over, and how the decision changes for story, 100%, and speedrun goals.

Last updated: August 18, 2026

Rewind when your current map has stopped producing useful progress and a permanent growth-speed bonus will save more time than continuing the run. The first Rewind costs $10,000. Before confirming it, make sure floating Star Orbs have been banked because the game only promises to retain banked Star Orbs.

Do this before every Rewind

  1. 1Bank floating Star Orbs. An official patch changed the Rewind text specifically to clarify that banked Star Orbs are retained.
  2. 2Spend Star Orbs on the Berry Buddy upgrade that best supports your next goal instead of spreading them without a route.
  3. 3Pick up any temporary target you are actively routing, especially the taxi or a puzzle reward that is already available.
  4. 4Write down which ending, puzzle, or achievement the next run is for. Rewinding without a target usually creates repeated work.

Choose by goal, not by a fixed Rewind count

I only want to see the endings

Rewind only when progression stalls. The easier endings do not require a large stack of Rewinds, while the 9,999-star Belladonna upgrade may justify extra growth speed.

Rewind signal: Current map is exhausted or the next required Star Orb purchase is advancing too slowly.

I want 100% achievements

Plan several Rewinds and use them to separate puzzle/collection runs from money and upgrade cleanup. The playtester guide recommends substantial Rewind investment for the all-upgrades grind.

Rewind signal: You have completed the current run’s unique puzzle or collection goals and are now waiting mainly on production.

I am routing Sugar Rush or another speed goal

Unlock useful NG+ modifiers first, then start a dedicated timed attempt. Do not mix a learning or collection run with the timer.

Rewind signal: You know the ending route and can begin from a clean, repeatable setup.

What resets and what carries over?

Carries overBanked Star Orbs, Berry Buddy progress, and permanent Rewind growth bonuses. Community completion guides also document retained tools.
ResetsCurrent money and the active farm/map state. Treat unbanked floating Star Orbs as unsafe.
Permanent benefitCommunity guides consistently document +25% berry growth speed per Rewind, stacking across runs.
CostThe first Rewind costs $10,000. Players report later costs rising until a $2,000,000 cap.

Common mistakes

Rewinding because the button appeared

Availability is not the same as value. Finish the current run’s cheap, unique objectives first.

Leaving Star Orbs floating

Only banked Star Orbs are explicitly protected by the game’s updated Rewind text.

Using an income-doubling formula

Verified game and community sources describe a growth-speed bonus, not a universal 2× income multiplier.

Chasing one “correct” count

The correct count depends on whether your bottleneck is exploration, puzzles, Star Orbs, money, or a timed achievement.

FAQ

How much does the first Rewind cost?

The first Rewind costs $10,000.

Should I Rewind before finishing the map?

Yes, when the remaining map work does not serve your next ending or achievement and production has become the main bottleneck.

Do floating Star Orbs survive a Rewind?

Do not assume so. The developer changed the in-game wording to specify banked Star Orbs, so bank them before confirming.
